Dr. Meilin Yang, PT, DPT

Physical Therapist

Pelvic Health and Orthopedic Specialist

Who I am.

I am a physical therapist, a native New Yorker, travel enthusiast, cookie baker, plant and animal lover. I moved across the country to Seattle in September 2022 with my husband, our dog and two cats on an adventurous RV trip. Though I miss my family and friends back home, I am already loving it in Seattle because of the calmer and slower pace and easy accessibility to the outdoors.

My Why.

My interest in the pelvic floor stemmed from experiencing urinary urgency and frequency. I was told by multiple medical doctors that I “just have a small bladder” and was prescribed different medications for an overactive bladder. I was hopeless until I learned more about what the pelvic floor is all about and eventually overcame my symptoms and felt more equipped to take control of my own health. Pelvic floor issues can be uncomfortable to talk about and are often overlooked.

I enjoy guiding people through their healing process, from helping a new mom get back to running without worrying about peeing her pants to eliminating the pain a patient is experiencing during sex. I want my patients to feel confident and equipped to take control of their health.

What I do.

I specialize in pelvic health & orthopedics. I am passionate about working with the pregnancy and the postpartum population as well as helping athletes return safely back to what they enjoy doing. I place emphasis on educating my patients and creating a home exercise program that is not only specific towards their goals, but also sustainable (I understand that life gets busy). I believe it is important to look at the whole body and other aspects of health such as work, sleep habits, diet, etc. that may contribute to their condition.

My goal with Upward PT is to help revolutionize physical therapy to put more focus on education, injury prevention, and wellness coaching. Just like how people go to the dentist twice a year, it is important to check in with a physical therapist even if you are not in pain (especially if you are a new mom). Pain is often a lagging indicator of something going wrong in your body!
