Dr. Jenny Iyo, DPT
Physical Therapist
Cycling and Bike Fit Specialist
Who I am.
I am a local Hawaii girl, outdoor enthusiast, cyclist, amateur musician, aspiring plant lady, food loving, physical therapist with a passion for helping people get moving!
I believe that finding joy in movement is one of the keys to leading a healthy and happy life. I would love to help you get back out there and keep those bodies moving!
My Why.
My “why” is a simple thing. Happiness! In general, I try to live my life by two simple rules: stay alive and be happy. I feel that in a way, physical therapy is the intersection of these two things. XD In all seriousness though, I am the happiest when I am helping people and when I am outside exploring the wondrous planet that we all live on. To be able to help people keep their bodies moving so that we can all continue to get outside is a true joy for me!
I know first hand what it’s like to be injured and unable to do the things that keep you going, that keep you happy. A few years ago, I injured my back and was unable to walk or bike even a couple of miles without pain. Through focused mobility, flexibility, strength and movement retraining, I was able to get back to all of the things that I love to do and I am now feeling stronger and biking/hiking farther than I ever had before my injury! Being able to move my body and get outside are the things that drive me, the things that ground me. Being able to work alongside clients that are trying to get back to being able to do the things that make them happy is what it’s all about! My “happy” place. :)
What I do.
My ultimate goal is to educate you on how to take care of your body in a way that will empower you to continue to pursue the movements that bring you joy. Whether it be to get you back to walking your dog around town or back to biking in the mountains, my approach is to teach you about how your body operates in the context of what you love to do, so that you have the knowledge and tools to keep your body moving.
I feel strongly that effective physical therapy requires collaboration between a physical therapist and their client, and I do my best to work alongside you to help you realize your goals in a way that is best suited for you.
