Here at Upward, we pride ourselves in specializing in activities that we enjoy ourselves (after all, it’s much more fun!). We are experienced road and trail runners, with hundreds of races under our belts. We know what it takes to train for a big race, or to get back into running after taking time off. We’re passionate about helping you optimize your training experience and avoid injury. Our Doctors of Physical Therapy use our expertise in functional movement, injury prevention, and runseasi technology as tools to help you create a personalized training program specific to your goals and aspirations!

Running/Movement Analysis & Training Consult

The first step for anyone wanting a personalized, guided approach to reaching your outdoor fitness goals. Whether this is your first half marathon (or your 10th), you want to plan a backpacking trip, or you are trying to get through this season without your knee pain flaring up, start here.

This Consult INCLUDES:

  • One-on-one 60-75 minute coaching session with one of our Doctors of Physical Therapy

  • Video gait analysis in multiple planes

  • Functional movement assessment

  • Discussion re: proper footwear and gear specific to your individual needs and goals.

  • Assessment and discussion of baseline fitness level, injury/pain history, and tips for injury prevention.

  • Goal-setting and timeline based on YOUR individual aspirations.

  • Personalized training & conditioning template specific to your timeline, fitness level and outdoor activity of choice.

  • Utilize new Runeasi wearable technology to give a more accurate picture of your gait based on sensor data.

Running Injury Prevention & Physical Therapy

So many of us only seek out help from a movement professional after an injury has already happened. And by then, it may prevent us from running that race we’ve been training for for months.

Let’s change the game. We are all about the proactive approach here at Upward. Come and see us as soon as (or better yet, BEFORE) you are having any pain at all. This way we can work together to create a program that will help you perform your best and hold you accountable.

Benefits of working with a PT as a runner:

  • Keep an eye on your running form and any inefficiencies that may impact your performance or lead to injury

  • Catch any early signs of common running injuries including anterior knee pain, shin splints, hip or foot pain

  • Give you weekly training workouts specific to your baseline fitness level and personal goals

  • Regular one-on-one form check and training progression sessions with your coach/PT

  • Help prevent injuries so you peak at the correct time

  • Be supervised by a Doctor of Physical Therapy with years of experience participating in and training outdoor athletes of all types and skill levels
